Many people were teaching false things about Jesus when 1 John was written and many people are teaching false things about Jesus today so just as John encouraged his readers to test the teachers he is encouraging us to test what people are saying and seek the truth about Jesus, God’s son who did come in the flesh and who is greater than all other spirits.
